Kirstie McPherson is a Behavioral Economist who’s research has focused on economic development throughout her career. Working with dozens of communities across the US, Kirstie has identified key practices to enhance economic development and answer the most common problems our communities are faced with today: workforce attraction, business expansion, and community interest.

Kirstie has a national certification in workforce development through the NWDP, and is continuing on with her research in community development through behavioral economics, and is currently working on her CEcD through OUEDI. Having worked in economic development for almost ten years, her experience navigates through rural and metropolitan areas with a key focus in workforce development and community expansion programs.

Kirstie's primary focus is transitioning economies, such as coal reliant communities and other one industry communities, in working with their redevelopment strategies and communication programs. You can view a mini-documentary Kirstie was part of here. Most recently, Kirstie has launched a new program called Flipping Towns with her company Edeveco, to better facilitate the economic development strategy process with implementation and providing real investment to communities who need it the most.

Kirstie also owns and operates local and expanding businesses 518 Wine Bar in Craig, CO and The Find, Co. in Craig and Loveland, CO. These businesses serve to attest to the importance of downtown revitalization and entrepreneurship in which she brings her insight to each community that she works in.

Kirstie’s professional interests include rural economic development, industry transition, workforce mobility, community supported enterprise, human centered design, and strategies that support each.
